Furman vs LSU
« on: July 09, 2013, 04:23:15 AM »
The game with LSU has been set for 7 PM in Tiger Stadium.

We have a large (in more ways than one) FU contingent heading down to the Bayou for the game.  We have several rooms still available for a Friday & Saturday stay at the L’Auberge Casino & Hotel Baton Rouge.  The hotel is 10 minutes from Tiger Stadium....free shuttle to and from the game...with a pre-game tailgate across the street from the stadium.

Hit me up here if you are interested in staying at this hotel ($179/night).

A number of us are heading down to NOLA on Thursday before we drive into BTR on Friday.....

Are you sure about the 7PM start? Everything I can find says TBA including the LSU official site. Thanks!

How much is FU getting from LSU for this game? Looked on the LSU website. Closest FCS game was last year's match with Towson 38-22. ASU lost to them twice, 40 something to very little and 24-0.

Fans going to LSU should contact the Furman ticket office about tickets. Furman has to return unsold tickets to LSU around August 1.

As memory serves, Appy was proud of the 0-24 result.  And prolly well they should be.

Game is at 7 PM.....LSU typically plays non-conferrence (non-major conference foes...1AA etc. at night with their Purple Jerseys).

I went to the LSU App game with a bunch of my App friends.....the game was played at 10 AM to beat the hurricane that was getting ready to hit the Bayou....It was tough for both teama to get up and ready for that game....Once LSU got ahead both teams subsituted freely and tried not to get anyone hurt and get the hell out of town.

If you are going...as Hawg posted...get your tickets through the Furman site as FU seats will be in lower level...typically....

I'd give $10,000.00 just to suit up and go for one series down there.

Come to think of it, that would probably be the stupidest thing I've ever done in my life. Never mind.

But now that we have identified that you have $10K in mad money, I'm betting we can find a use for it.   >:D

Oldfrt, your thought is exactly why I had to change my mind (I hate playing FBS games) on these FBS games.  I have heard from a very high percentage of our players that they chose FU in some small part bc we promise to play at Clemson etc (as opposed to an FCS that does not play at FBS, though most schools do).   Personally my goal-oriented self looks at these games only as a check (and a chance to shock the world) but as the honestly least important game on the calendar...  Which they are as to our goal to win the SoCon and National Title

Here we go again. The old should we or should we not play them discussion. (Big boys, FBS, etc.)

As a man well past the half century mark, the thought of suiting up was ridiculous. However, the urge came from that small bit of gray matter that was formed under the shell of a Paladin helmet. (...or should I say damaged gray matter.) As a twenty year old I wanted to suit up against any collegiate foe in the U.S. Our guys, if they fear LSU, need to stay in Greenville. My guess is that every man who makes the road trip is going to be fixated on executing their assignments against a collection of some of the most gifted ahthletes to be assembled on a field. It is all about just having a chance to go at it for four quarters aginst the level of competition that snubbed you coming out of high school.

...and then, there's this check and the chance to shock the world.

I hope we play 2 FBS teams next year.

I don't see a thread about all the excitement of the Coastal away game.

The decision to go to the game was made long before.  I did not mean to imply i was somehow ambivalent about that. My decision is how do I get there and where do i stay.

Is that man enough for you?

Just ask NC State x 2, GATech x 2, USC, UNC & the others we scared the S$&t out of. I'd suit up wt you, oldfrt, especially as I enter playing weight zone. Our boys wil handle the Tiger night air quite well.

Nope not at all CFU....quite womanly to be exact....

here in the US we have many modes of transportation....even though LA might seem be backwards based upon...Swamp People....Duck Dynasty...they do have hotel accommodations in Baton Rouge.

Unfortunately....the 40 rooms we have reserved at the LA' Barge Hotel and Casino for Furman Fans are now all accounted for....

I read the later posts, that's impressive 44.  <45+ myself which puts me about 15 under playing weight.  Going for GA weight, but being employed has put a crimp in the program.  Any tips you can share from your success?

It is simple.  Eat right and exercise like you are going for the Presidential Physical Fitness Award just like in elementary school.   Strap on those PF Flyers and get after it.

If it has tires or tits it's gonna give you trouble.

DPLOT.

Also, This will work but you may want to discuss it with your Dr.   Eat 1 Whopper Meal every 2 days.   In addition drink black coffee until 3 in the afternoon then purchase a 12 pack of Budweiser at the end of the work day.   I failed to mention that the work day consists of intense fast labor in 95 - 100 degree heat.  The Budweiser provides the calories on the day you do not eat.

I lost 40 pounds in 3 months like that.
